Supporting Park City’s Peace House

October 25, 2024 by idxcentral

Peace house

Who Are They

Since forming their Domestic Peace Task Force in 1992, the team at Peace House has been fully committed to ending family violence and abuse in the state of Utah through a series of comprehensive and compassionate services, including education, outreach, shelter, and support services. It’s shocking to know that 1 in 3 Utah women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, and Peace House has been working diligently over the past several years to raise awareness and provide multifaceted support to victims.

In 1995, the inaugural Peace House shelter was built in the Park City area, depending solely on the hard work of generous volunteers. Since that time, Peace House has evolved exponentially, now recognized as a state-licensed facility complete with trained staff who work on site all year round.

Collaborating with local partners and receiving community donations and grants has allowed Peace House to make continuous progress over the years. Even still, the shelter relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers in order to provide the best possible services to victims of domestic abuse.

What They Do

Peace House offers an extensive variety of supportive services to those who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault, as well as educational programs for community members of all ages to help prevent the cycle of abuse and violence.

The holistic approach of Peace House is truly inspiring, and ranges from educational programs for the community to transitional housing for domestic abuse victims. The Peace House victim advocates work around the clock on the helpline, while group counseling, safe emergency housing, and clinical services are also available.

In 2012, the Peace House team began working on a community campus that aims to expand upon existing services and give survivors the time and space to work towards complete independence from domestic abuse. The community campus now encompasses 4 acres of land near the Intermountain Park City Medical Center and People’s Health Clinic for quick access to additional care and public transit.

Additionally, in 2016, Peace House opened their licensed clinical therapy office, which focuses on counseling and case management services to benefit victims throughout the community, whether they’re living at home or at the shelter.

Why We Love Them

We support the Peace House’s amazing mission, which clearly showcases the power of a community to band together for an important cause. Equipped with an amazing group of volunteers, employees, and the generous help of the Park City community, the Peace House team has taken the incredible initiative to help end the cycle of domestic abuse over the last several decades.

By taking a holistic approach to the issue, the Peace House is helping to reduce the stigma surrounding the subject of domestic abuse. From education sessions to safe housing, Peace House is able to inform the Utah community of this problem, while also raising awareness that comprehensive support is available for domestic abuse victims.
